Kai’s Story
Music education is Kai’s true passion, rooted in a lifelong love of learning and teaching music. She grew up learning violin through the Suzuki method and attending Suzuki workshops and institutes throughout her childhood. These were experiences that deeply shaped her philosophy as both a learner and educator. This commitment led Kai to center both her Girl Scouts Silver and Gold Awards around teaching and advocating for music education. Her Gold Award specifically focused on advocacy for music education within school systems, driven by her belief that all students deserve access to high-quality music instruction. Through this work, she raised awareness of the academic, social, and emotional benefits of music programs and promoted equitable access and sustained support in schools.
In 2019, she was nationally recognized as a National Gold Award Girl Scout. After this recognition, she went on to take music education classes in high school, embark on her journey of the Suzuki Associations teacher development, and study violin at DePaul University while taking music education courses, further strengthening her foundation as both a musician and educator. Her musical journey reflects a deep dedication to both performance and pedagogy, embodying the values instilled by her mentors and academic experiences, and affirming her lifelong devotion to sharing music and nurturing young learners.
